Greece is currently under a MeToo “siege” as accusations and formal complaints for acts of sexual harassments, abuses and similar come to light in the fields of sports and civilization. It all started last month when Olympic gold medalist and sailing champion Sophia Becatorou, revealed being a victim of sexual assault when she was 20 years old at the Sydney Olympics. Since then similar complaints cascaded in the arts and even schools with the MeToo movement increasingly spreading.
The government has launched a MeToo website to support victims denounce acts of authoritarian violence, sexual harassment and abuse in the workplace – but not only there.
Yesterday the Greek Prime Minister announced that several institutional steps will be taken – among which the adoption of the 190 ILO Convention on the right to a work place free from violence and harassment, the mandatory adoption of Codes of Conduct in every business and other measures.
