Today, July 19th 2021Law 4706/2020 on corporate governance, implementing in Greece Directive (EU) 2017/828 of the European Parliament and of the Council, came at last into force.

A major step is its provision on the quota of women in the Board of Directors of the listed companies, which must be at least 25%.

Interestingly enough, 17 years ago, in 2003, Norway passed a regulation that imposed gender quota and required the companies to raise the proportion of women in their boards to 40%.
